Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez hit out at critics of his team´s defensive style but accepted that a trophy-free season represented failure as the English Premier League campaign came to an end.
Let's face it, without Gerrad and without Torres, Liverpool is just a mediocre side and there is no way that they would have finished 4th in the Premiership.
And in many instances they were just plain lucky !!!!
