Manchester United FC winger Cristiano Ronaldo has been named English Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year for the second season running.

The 23-year-old joins Thierry Henry in becoming only the second player to retain the award. Ronaldo, who also won the Professional Footballers' Association Player of the Year prize last month, has scored 28 Premier League goals this term.
