Derby County FC midfielder Giles Barnes will miss the rest of the season because of a knee injury.

The English Premier League's bottom club are resigned to being without the 19-year-old for several months, although it is not certain that Barnes will require an operation. "It is a bad blow. Hopefully, with rehab, he'll be back sooner rather than later," said Derby manager Paul Jewell. "However, it wouldn't make sense to rush anyone back with next season in mind."
