The Scottish Football Association have backed referee Iain Brines after he booked Artur Boruc for gesturing to home supporters following Celtic´s match at Hibernian on Saturday.

Celtic boss Gordon Strachan questioned the decision to yellow-card the Polish goalkeeper in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League match, saying: "I´ve recently seen people going into the crowd and not getting booked. Tell us the rules and I will tell the players."

But the SFA insist Brines acted properly, citing their rule that a player should be booked for making "gestures which are provocative, derisory or inflammatory or intended to incite or ridicule opponents or opposing spectators".
