Defender Javi Venta has extended his contract with Villarreal CF until June 2009.

The 32-year-old right-back, whose previous deal was due to expire at the end of the current campaign, has made 133 Primera División appearances for the club since signing from CD Tenerife in summer 2002 and has featured 16 times in the league this season. Villarreal are third, just two points behind second-placed FC Barcelona.
