Tottenham Hotspur defender Jonathan Woodgate admitted that their home 1-0 defeat by PSV Eindhoven last week cost them dear despite their comeback before losing a UEFA Cup Round of 16 penalty shoot-out in the Netherlands.

Woodgate said: "Nobody likes to lose on penalties, it is not nice really, but we did not play well in the first leg. They did not have a chance in this game and we kept them busy but full credit to them, they got through on the night."
