LONDON (AFP) - Fulham's fight for Premier League survival will be bolstered by the arrival of United States international forward Eddie Johnson.

The 23-year-old is to leave Kansas City Wizards for a three-and-a-half-year deal with the west London club after receiving confirmation on Wednesday that he had succeeded with an application for a UK work permit.

He is the third signing made by new Fulham manager Roy Hodgson in the current transfer window, joining Danish midfielder Leon Andreasen and Norwegian defender Brede Hangeland at Craven Cottage.

Fulham have also agreed a fee for Rangers striker Daniel Cousin and have veteran Finland striker Jari Litmanen and South Korean forward Cho Jae Jin on trial.

Hodgson said: "I have made no secret of the fact that I believe the squad lacks a certain balance in specific areas of the team and following the loss of (striker) Brian McBride to injury, this is true of our strike force.

"At 6ft 1inc Eddie has the presence that will complement the other forwards within our squad and he has the ability to offer us another dimension to our attacking play."
