VfB Stuttgart have signed Jan Šimák from second division side FC Carl Zeiss Jena on a two-year contract. The 29-year-old, who played for Hannover 96 and Bayer 04 Leverkusen, has scored seven goals in 27 matches for his side this season.

"Jan Šimák can be used in different positions in midfield and can give us even more options," said Stuttgart sporting director Horst Heldt of the man with one international appearance for the Czech Republic to his name.
