Queen of the South FC have reached their first Scottish Cup final and are on the verge of a European debut after they shocked Premier League side Aberdeen FC 4-3 at Hampden Park.

The Dumfries-based side have not been in the top flight since 1964 and only recently turned full-time but having made the last four for only the second occasion, won a thriller against seven-time cup victors Aberdeen, who were aiming for their 16th final.

Steve Tosh's first-half goal was cancelled out before the break by Aberdeen's Andrew Considine, but in an extraordinary 15 minutes after half-time, Queens led 2-1 and 3-2 thanks to Paul Burns and Sean O'Connor only for the Dons to equalise through Barry Nicholson and Considine. However after John Stewart struck on the hour, the lead remained intact for Gordon Chisholm's team.
