ALKMAAR, Apr 14 (SW) - AZ Alkmaar are reportedly interested in the services of former Tottenham Hotspur manager Martin Jol, as replacement for Louis van Gaal.

As it is almost certain that Van Gaal will be leaving last year's runners-up at the end of this season, club chairman Scheringa is looking for an experienced replacement.

This was reported by Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad this Monday.

After missing out on the championship on the very last day in 2007, AZ have failed to recover in the current season. Currently in 12th place at 29 points from leaders PSV, the Alkmaar-based formation has no chance of appearing in a European tournament next year.
