MANCHESTER, Apr 29 (SW) - The semi final stage of the UEFA Champions League continued with the second leg clash between Manchester United and FC Barcelona. SoccerWay kept you up to date on the most important events.
Final score: 1-0 More match information: Here. Feel free to register or log in and start using the 'discuss' option below to give your opinion on this match! FULL TIME - The free kick is cleared and the referee whistles. Manchester United have made it! The Red Devils will be playing the Champions League final in Moscow. Minute 90+6: One more Barcelona free kick from the right wing. Valdes joins his teammates up front. Minute 90+6: Sixty more seconds for FC Barcelona. Minute 90+4: The substitution has taken place and the action continues. Minute 90+3: Injury for United. Evra is to be stretchered off and is replaced with Silvestre. Likely, the referee only starts the three additional minutes when Evra is gone. Minute 90+1: Three minutes have been added. Manchester are just three minutes away from a spot in the final. Minute 90: Puyol with a low cross from the left but Manchester clear, albeit after a bit of a battle. Minute 89: Bojan gets freedom to try a shot but the young attacker doesn't realise it in time and the chance goes by. Minute 89: Last substitution for Barcelona. Eidur Gudjohnsen replaces Yaya Touré, whose European season is over no matter what. Minute 87: The nail-biting has begun at Old Trafford. Will Manchester hold on to their small lead to reach the final for the first time since 1999? Minute 84: Bojan tries to find one his teammates with a short cross from the right but Van der Sar ends the attack. Minute 82: Van der Sar again stands in the way of Henry's success. This time the goalkeeper saves a shot from the Frenchman. Minute 81: Ronaldo himself tries his luck from just outside the penalty area but the shot goes wide. Minute 78: Henry heads on goal from a corner kick but Van der Sar stands in exactly the right position to control the ball. Minute 77: First United substitution - a double in fact - as Nani and Paul Scholes leave the action to Ryan Giggs and Darren Fletcher. Minute 76: Barcelona keep trying to attack but can't create any real chances. Minute 72: Samuel Eto'o couldn't convince today and is taken off for Bojan Krkic. The youngster will be spearheading the attack. Minute 70: Barcelona's Yaya Touré is next to appear in the referee's administration after a foul on Park, and is ruled out for the final. Minute 68: Cristiano Ronaldo fouls Zambrotta and gets yellow-carded. Minute 67: The two sides are more balanced again as United have slowed down their attacks and spend more time on their own half. Minute 64: The following free kick is deflected by a defender and goes just wide of the goal. Minute 63: Carrick is Manchester United's first player to get booked after a foul on Lionel Messi. The card has no consequences for the final. Minute 61: Thierry Henry, former Arsenal striker, comes on the pitch and replaces Andres Iniesta. Minute 59: Barcelona are preparing a substitution and most likely it'll be Henry to enter. Minute 57: Tevez combines with Cristiano Ronaldo and shoots on goal, but Valdes does well to block the effort with both hands. Minute 56: Messi uses his pace to leave some defenders behind but the following shot doesn't even come anywhere close to the goal. Minute 54: And another yellow card, this time for Deco. He and Zambrotta can both still play the final though, if they qualify. Minute 53: Big chance for Nani, who puts the ball wide after excellent work from Cristiano Ronaldo. Minute 52: The first yellow card goes to Zambrotta, following a tackle on Evra. Question is whether it was really a foul. Minute 51: Manchester United get a corner but nobody manages to get his head on the ball. Minute 46: The match is back underway. Barcelona have 45 minutes left to score that important goal. HALF TIME - The first half is over and it has been entertaining so far. Manchester United opened the score with a powerful shot from Paul Scholes after 14 minutes, and have held on to their lead uptil now. Minute 45+1: Two more minutes have been added to this first half. Minute 44: Gabriel Milito heads from the free kick but the ball lacks accuracy. Minute 43: Free kick to Barcelona after a Scholes foul on Deco. The distance is about 30 meters. Minute 41: Almost a second for United as a Nani header goes only just wide. Referee says there was a foul though. Van der Sar meanwhile, seems to be fine. Minute 39: In fact he didn't injure himself; it was Brown that hit his keeper's head with his knee when running to make up for Van der Sar's mistake. Minute 38: Van der Sar drops the ball but a defender manages to clear. The goalkeeper does seem to have injured himself. Minute 37: Deco again and this time the Portuguese is even close, but his effort goes less than a meter wide of the left post. Minute 34: Finally a decent attack from Barcelona. Deco ends it with a shot that goes a bit over Van de Sar's goal. Minute 30: Puyol is back and the Catalan captain is able to continue. Minute 29: Another dangerous attack from Manchester United in which Valdes and his defense have plenty of difficulties avoiding a second goal. Meanwhile, Puyol needs treatment after hitting an opponent with his head. Minute 28: Eto'o brings in a cross from the left but can't reach his teammates in the area. Minute 24: Barcelona currently don't know how to deal with Manchester's fast attack. The home side are a lot stronger since their opening goal. Minute 21: Almost Asian joy at old trafford. South Korean Park's shot only just goes wide of Barcelona's goal. Man United are pushing for a second. Minute 19: Lionel Messi, who seems to be in good shape today, delivers a shot on goal but Van der Sar makes a good save. Minute 17: Valdes can't control a United free kick from the right wing, but is lucky as Deco stands in the right spot to take the ball out of the area. Minute 17: The goal changes everything. Barcelona will now have to score to stay alive, and there will definitely not be extra time or penalties. Minute 14: GOAL - MANCHESTER (1-0) - PAUL SCHOLES shoots from well outside the penalty area and the ball flies past Victor Valdes to open the score for Manchester United! A great shot from the red-haired midfielder. Minute 12: Eric Abidal tries his luck and shoots from a distance as Van der Sar stands a bit away from his goal. The ball goes over though. Minute 11: Messi shakes off two defenders and finds Eto'o, but the latter can't really shoot as there are too many defenders in the way. Minute 10: The goalkeepers haven't been active in the last minutes, as the ball mostly stays in midfield. The teams are testing each other. Minute 5: Barcelona are the more attacking side in the opening phase. The Catalans clearly want a quick goal, which would force United to score two. Minute 2: The free kick was caused by a Paul Scholes tackle on Lionel Messi just outside the area. One second later and it would have been a penalty. Minute 1: A free kick for Barcelona, on the right side just outside the penalty area. Lionel Messi's effort hits a defender. Minute 0: The match has started at the Theater of Dreams! Question is whose dreams will be coming true tonight. |

Without Vida and Rooney on the bench. It will be hard, but I hope we will win 2-1. Glory, GloryStrani April 29th, 2008 20:31

I agree with ajax72. The final will probably be a boring scoreless draw decided on penalties.
