West Ham United defender George McCartney is adamant the club have made progress this season. The Hammers currently sit in 10th place, with manager Alan Curbishley and his players having steadied the ship after last season's narrow avoidance of relegation.

West Ham have been in disappointing form over the last few weeks, but McCartney believes that overall, the fans can be happy with what they have seen. He does, though, acknowledge, that there are some tired legs in the dressing room.

"It has been a long season and a major improvement on what was achieved last year," he told the club's official website.
