ROME (AFP) - Palermo's controversial president Maurizio Zamparini denied on Tuesday that English Premier League giants Arsenal have made a move for highly-rated Brazilian forward Amauri.

Amauri is certain to leave the Sicilians at the end of the season with many of Europe's top clubs reported to be possible destinations. But apparently not Arsenal.

"We've not received any proposals from Arsenal for Amauri," said Zamparini. "Juventus are not the only ones to have made a move, but the Gunners have not come forward."

"Many clubs from Spain and England have contacted us but there is a problem with Amauri's passport, he doesn't have one at the moment. We've had serious talks with Juventus, they are a serious club, like Palermo. They never try to go over your head."

Zamparini admitted the two sides were close to agreeing a fee for the Brazilian, who is trying to become a naturalised Italian in time to be in with a chance of making the Italy squad for Euro 2008 in June.
