Hibernian denied victory in Edinburgh derby against Hearts

EDINBURGH (AFP) - A second-half goal by Christian Nade saw Hearts share the spoils 1-1 with city rivals Hibernian here on Sunday in their Scottish Premiership clash.
Nade gave Hearts a deserved draw after his clubmate Christophe Berra had inadvertently given Hibs the lead with an own goal in the 18th minute. However, Berra had been fortunate not to give Hibs an earlier lead when he was generously adjudged not to have knocked over Lewis Stevenson, but justice was done - at least as seen by Hibs supporters - when he headed into his own net from a corner. Hearts gave their all in pursuit of at the very least an equaliser and were eventually rewarded as Nade put the ball into the Hibs net from an Andrius Ksanavicius header. Andrius Velicka was to play a crucial role in Hibs losing further ground as he later cleared off the line from Steven Fletcher. Hibs dropping of two points leaves them six points adrift of Celtic, who beat Kilmarnock 2-1 on Saturday, while Rangers are second having beaten Inverness Caledonian Thistle 2-0 also on Saturday. |
