ROME (AFP) - Atalanta won 3-1 at bottom club Ascoli to move up to fourth place in Serie A.
After a goalless first half, Riccardo Zampagna put Atalanta ahead with a glancing header only for Michele Paolucci to stab home the equaliser.
Brazilian midfielder Adriano restored the visitors´ lead with a towering header in the 84th minute before Cristiano Doni finished off a quick raid upfield to make the three points safe.
Atalata´s victory, only their second away from their Azzurri D-Italia stadium, left them in the final Champions League spot up for grabs on 27 points, 24 behind leaders Inter Milan who host Fiorentina on Sunday.
Ascoli, who have registered just one win in their 20 matches played and are anchored to the foot of the table on nine points, look doomed.
In Saturday´s late match third-placed Palermo play away relegation-threatened Reggina.
