ABIDJAN (AFP) - Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has been overwhelmingly voted the Ivorian player of the year for 2006 following a poll organised by the weekly Supersport.

Drogba received 194 points to take the award ahead of Lille striker Kader Keita (68), followed by Lens striker Aruna Dindane (66), Tottenham´s Didier Zokora (48) and Arsenal´s Kolo Toure (46).

The poll involved twenty media organisations including 17 newspapers, radio and national television.

The other nominees were Yaya Toure of Monaco, Arouna Kone of PSV Eindhoven, Abdoulaye Meite of Bolton, Emmanuel Eboue of Arsenal and two local players, Didier Ya Konan of ASEC Mimosas and Bakary Soro ASEC Mimosas.
