STUTTGART, Germany (AFP) - Romanian international striker Sergiu Radu has been loaned by VfL Wolfsburg to reigning Bundesliga champions VfB Stuttgart for six months to fill in for the injured Cacau.

"We are convinced that Sergiu will help us because he already knows the championship well," said Stuttgart sporting director Horst Heldt.

The club have an option to buy the 30-year-old.

Last season Radu scored 14 goals with Energie Cottbus and along with compatriot Vlad Munteanu, who also joined Wolfsburg, helped the club stay in the top flight.

He joins compatriot Ciprian Marica who has a disappointing start to the season with Stuttgart since his 7.5 million euro summer transfer from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk.

Brazilian Cacau has been ruled out for two months with a shoulder injury.

Stuttgart are currently eighth in the league 11 points behind leaders Bayern Munich.
