PARIS (AFP) - European football's ruling body UEFA has granted a request by Sevilla to postpone their Champions League tie Tuesday against AEK Athens following the death of Antonio Puerta.

Sevilla defender Puerta, 22, died on Tuesday having intially suffered a heart attack during Sevilla's 4-1 league win over Getafe on Saturday.

According to UEFA Sevilla will return to Athens to play the second leg of their Champions League qualifier against AEK on Monday, September 3.

However the Spanish side, the reigning UEFA Cup champions, look likely to play their scheduled European Super Cup match against reigning Champions League winners AC Milan this Friday in Monaco.

UEFA spokesman William Gaillard said Tuesday: "Sevilla requested that they be allowed to return home and in the circumstances we could only grant that request."

He added: "In theory the Super Cup match will be held as planned, and will be played in homage to Puerta this Friday in Monaco."
