ROSTOCK, Sept 15 (SW) – Rostock may be Germany’s chief port on the Baltic Sea, but when it comes to football their third division football side Hansa Rostock have been fined by the German Football Association (DFB).

They were fined €20 000 after their fans had chanted racist slogans at Gerald Asamoah, Schalke 04’s Ghanaian born striker who ironically has been living in Germany practically all of his life.

The incident occurred on the 9th of this month when Schalke 04 played Hansa Rostock in a German Cup match, won by the Bundesliga visitors 9 – 1.

Over and above the fine they have been penalised by having to play their next home match in front of an empty stadium.

Hansa Rostock have accepted the fine.
