NIJMEGEN, Sep 10 (SW) - After having won their first two matches, AZ Alkmaar were once again victorious in the third at NEC Nijmegen. Louis van Gaal's side continues to lead in the Eredivisie.

Georgian striker Shota Arveladze put AZ in the lead when 31 minutes had been played at the Goffert stadium of Nijmegen.

Stijn Schaars, who last week made his debut for the Dutch national team, decided the game with a second goal in the 80th minute.

AZ and Ajax are the only two teams with nine points from three matches, but AZ have a better goal record.
