WIGAN, Sep 1 (SW) – Last season’s Premiership surprise packet Wigan have completed a triple swoop on transfer deadline day.

The Latics stepped up their preparations for the season ahead by signing Svetoslav Todorov on-loan from Portsmouth, Kevin Kilbane for an undisclosed fee and young Welsh forward David Cotterill for £2million from Bristol City.

Manager Paul Jewell commented on each of his new arrivals.

(Kevin Kilbane)
“I am delighted Kevin has agreed to come on board.

“He is another real quality acquisition for us, a highly-experienced player who has seen it all at Premiership level.

“I have been a long-time admirer because he is a Wigan type of player, committed, athletic, quick and talented.

“He brings something we just haven't got at the club, a naturally left-footed attacking player.

“I have always maintained that I want at least two players for every position and Kevin will now give us a terrific option on the left-hand side.”

(Svetoslav Todorov)

“I have always liked him.

“He's a pure striker, he lives to put the ball in the back of the net and will hopefully bring us that predatory instinct in front of goal which we have lacked at times in the past.

“Harry (Redknapp) speaks ever so highly about him as a player and a person and I am really excited about bringing a player of his nature into the club.”

(David Cotterill)

“He is a player we have been monitoring for some time and we have decided to act now.

“David is one of those players who I think has the ability to make the grade in the Premiership, which is why we've decided to take him.

“He is very quick but he is also very hungry to learn and has a great attitude.”
