STUTTGART, Oct 27 (SW) – It was reported here that the spectator who threw a cup of beer at a linesman and injured him could be in line for a prison term.

The incident took place on Wednesday during third division Stuttgarter Kickers and top Bundesliga club Hertha Berlin.

The match was abandoned with only nine minutes of the match remaining. At that stage Hertha Berlin were 2 – 0 ahead.

This is not the first occasion on which this thirty eight year old supporter has landed in hot water. In 1996 he was banned from watching all VfB Stuttgart matches after being found guilty of unacceptable match behaviour.

On Thursday the match was awarded to Hertha Berlin.

The supporter had been arrested after the match but released shortly thereafter.
