NAPLES, Oct 6 (SW) – Paolo Cannavaro, the younger brother of Azzurri captain Fabio, has revealed that his brother would love to join Napoli after his stint with Real Madrid.
Cannavaro is from Naples and would cherish the opportunity to appear for his hometown club before bowing out of the game. "Fabio would like to return to his hometown to end his footballing career," said Paolo. "It won't be easy, as he has a three-year contract with Real Madrid and he is already 33-years-old, but we all hope that this dream will come true." Paolo himself dropped down to Serie B in the summer, opting to leave Parma at the end of his contract, to help push the proud club back into Serie A. Napoli has one of the best squads on paper in Serie B, and are rightfully considered one of the favourites for promotion this season. However, the club have not started off as well as planned and currently find themselves sixth in the table. "We have all the qualities needed to achieve promotion to the top flight, despite the initial problems. This team can fight for the First Division, I am sure of that," said the defender. "It won't be an easy task seeing as there are many strong sides competing with us. "I hope our supporters will have the patience to wait for the players who showed their value during the summer – they will make the difference." |
