HOMS, Nov 8 (SW) - Korean side Chonbuk Motors captured the Asian Champions League title 3-2 on aggregate despite losing the second leg to Syrian side Al-Karama.
Riding a 2-0 lead from last week's first-leg victory, the Korean outfit looked to be up against it when Mohamed al-Hamwi and Mohamed Ibrahim scored within seven second-half minutes to take a 2-0 lead and level the aggregate scoreline.
But Chonbuk got a late goal when Brazilian Zé Carlo hit a towering header into the Al-Karama goal a minute from time to propel the visitors to the title.
Chonbuk becomes the first Korean side sdince 2002 (Suwon Bluewings) to win Asia's premier club football competition. Al-Karama was the first-ever Syrian side to compete in the final.
