BUENOS AIRES, Nov 12 (SW) – Gimnasia-La Plata are preparing for an investigation from authorities after it emerged their own fans had threatened them with violence unless they lost the game.

If Gimnasia lost the game against Boca Juniors then it would make it difficult for rivals Estudiantes to remain in the title race. When the game took place Boca won 4-1 with Gimnasia conceding two goals in five minutes.

"We have received various reports and we will be interviewing the players, the technical staff and the directors, " said public prosecutor Marcelo Romero.

Romero then stated, "There are general suspicions that the club's barra (hardcore fans) went to the team's headquarters to intimidate them."
