MADRID, Nov 5 (SW) - A goal eight minutes from time by Jorge Larena lifted Celta de Vigo to a 2-1 La Liga victory away to Real Madrid on Sunday evening.
The home side dominated the early proceedings with Ronaldo, Sergio Ramos, and Raúl all squandering chances inside the opening 20 minutes of the game.
But it was the visitors from Galicia who would take the lead in the 35th minute, Nené firing in a first-time shot after a pass from Ernesto Canobbio.
However, the Merengues would get themselves level just seven minutes later as Emerson bagged the equalizer with an accurate header off of a corner kick.
Both sides had scoring chances pass by early in the second half before the pace settled a bit and Raúl's miss in the 77th minute from a good spot would prove costly.
Five minutes later, Celta stunned the crowd at the Bernabéu as they went in front through Larena as he took the ball after a giveaway by José Antonio Reyes, leaving Iker Casillas with little chance.
