HEERENVEEN, Nov 26 (SW) - AZ Alkmaar move into second place in the Dutch Eredivisie after a 1-3 victory at SC Heerenveen.
The Frisian hosts took the lead through Afonso Alves in the 20th minute but Georgian striker Shota Arveladze levelled seven minutes later.
AZ needed a win to surpass Ajax, who earlier on Sunday lost to Sparta, and the goal from Danny Koevermans in the 81st minute secured just that.
Maarten Martens set the score to 1-3 with five minutes left to play at the Abe Lenstra stadium of Heerenveen.
