LILLE, Nov 25 (SW) - Lille stayed second in the Ligue 1 standings on Saturday, but only barely as they had to come from behind to earn a 1-1 draw against lowly Monaco.
Hanging around the relegation zone for much of this season so far, Monaco stunned their hosts in the 37th minute as Serge Gakpé fired the side from the principality into the lead.
Stunned, Lille went in at half-time needing a new gameplan as they sought to recover from a disappointing midweek draw with Anderlecht, and they did turn up the pressure in the second term.
It paid off in the 76th minute as Mathieu Bodmer broke through to slot home the equalizer to keep Lille 11 points behind Lyon, but level on points with Sochaux.
