MUNICH, Mar 4 (CP) - A late goal from Nigel de Jong earned Hamburger SV three points at Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich, while Werder Bremen dropped two points at Bayer Leverkusen.
Bayern Munich - Hamburger SV 1-2 Hamburg ended Bayern Munich's streak of nineteen victories in home games, beating the Bavarians 1-2. Guy Demel put Hamburger SV in the lead after 17 minute, and his side continued to dominate in the first half. But Bayern were the stronger side in the second half and Mehmet Scholl levelled with seven minutes to go in regular time. But Dutchman Nigel de Jong decided the match three minutes later, scoring for 1-2. Hamburg have now won both Bundesliga matches against Bayern this season. Bayer Leverkusen - Werder Bremen 1-1 Only three minutes had been played when Torsten Frings opened the score for Werder, from the penalty spot. But Werder did not take advantage of Bayern's loss and conceded an equalizer from Bulgarian Dimitar Berbatov in the 41st minute. Hannover 96 - Schalke 04 1-2 Schalke 04 took the lead through Christian Poulsen in the 20th minute, and Zlatan Bajramovic added a second in the 28th. Poulsen was sent off in the 73rd minute, and Thomas Christiansen got one back for Hannover one minute later. Schalke held on to their lead however to earn three points. Borussia Dortmund - Mainz 05 1-1 Christian Worns, who was left out of Germany's squad for the friendly match with Italy earlier this week, put Borussia in the lead after 27 minutes but Michael Thurk levelled for Mainz in the 53rd. Hertha BSC - Cologne 2-4 Cologne achieved a 2-4 win at Hertha, and all goals were scored in the second half. Lukas Podolski (2), Marco Streller and Matthias Scherz took care of Cologne's goals, and Marko Pantelic scored two for the home team. Nurnberg - Duisburg 3-0 Robert Vittek was without a doubt the man of the match for Nurnberg, scoring all three goals in the 8th, 15th and 86th minutes. Duisburg's Mihai Tararache was sent off in the 82nd minute. The match between Kaiserslautern and VfB Stuttgart was postponed after heavy snowfall. |
