PAMPLONA, Mar 22 (SW) - Osasuna continue to dazzle everyone in Spain as they moved into second place in La Liga following their victory over Basque rivals Real Sociedad. The move up was aided by a Valencia draw with Villarreal and Real Madrid's draw with Zaragoza.

Osasuna - Real Sociedad 2-0

Just six minutes in at El Sadar, Iñaki Múñoz gave the home side the lead as he fired in a brilliant volley shot that scorched the back of the net, and they held on to the advantage all the way until the very end when a penalty by Patxi Puñal padded the lead and ensure Osasuna the win.

Zaragoza - Real Madrid 1-1

A last-gasp goal by goal-desperate Ronaldo prevented Real Madrid from suffering their second loss of the year at Zaragoza.

The home side had taken the lead three minutes into the second half as Diego Milito scored his 14th goal of the season. That goal looked as if it would be the winner until Ronaldo fired home in second-half stoppage time to snatch a point and stay within a single point of Osasuna.

Valencia - Villarreal 1-1

Villarreal will rue a missed opportunity to claim three big points after a missed penalty made them settle for a draw at local rivals Valencia.

The home side took the lead in the 38th minute through Rubén Baraja, but Miguel Angulo's second yellow card six minutes later forced them to finish with ten men.

Diego Forlán pulled Villarreal level with 20 minutes left to play and they should have taken the lead with eight minutes left in the game, but Juan Román Riquelme failed to place his spot kick in the net.

Deportivo La Coruña - Málaga 2-1

Deportivo moved into fifth spot, seven points adrift of the Champions League spots, coming from a goal down to defeat bottom side Málaga at the Riazor.

Duda put the south coast visitors in front in the 35th minute, but Víctor's goal in the 55th minute cancelled out that effort.

Víctor's second goal of the game in the 72nd minute put Depor in front and Málaga's fate was sealed late on with the dismissal of Juan Rodríguez. Málaga also were booked seven times in the game plus the red card.

Real Betis - Racing Santander 1-0

Real Betis took a step toward safety after defeating ten-man Racing Santander, who had been coming off of a nice victory over Valencia at the weekend.

The visitors went a man down on the half-hour mark when Pablo Pinillos was dismissed, and midfielder Edu struck eight minutes later to send Betis to a much-needed victory.

Alavés - Celta de Vigo 1-0

Alavés are in the relegation zone, still, but are close to getting out after defeating Celta on Wednesday.

Australian international forward John Aloisi found the back of the net with just three minutes left to play, giving the Basque side a huge victory.

Mallorca - Cádiz 1-0

Cádiz are becoming more and more stuck in the bottom three, suffering a narrow defeat at Mallorca to keep them four points deep in the drop zone.

A 16th-minute goal by Víctor at Son Moix sent Mallorca to 14th place, but only two points above the bottom three.

Athletic Bilbao - Espanyol 1-1

A late goal by Francisco Yeste salvaged a point for Athletic Bilbao in their draw with Espanyol on Wednesday at San Mamés.

Juanfran fired Espanyol in front on 39 minutes, but Yeste's strike denied them a win. The point left Bilbao level on points with third-from-bottom Alavés, but out of the relegation zone on goal difference.
