PAMPLONA, Jul 24 (SW) - Looking for reinforcement ahead of their Champions League qualifying campaign in August, Spanish side Osasuna signed Real Madrid striker Roberto Soldado to a season-long loan deal.
The 21-year-old forward scored just twice in La Liga but scored a crucial winning goal in the Champions League against Olympiakos and he said that his ultimate goal is becoming a star at the Bernabéu.
Soldado also was the second leading scorer in the Segunda División last season as he scored 19 times for Real Madrid Castilla, the powerhouse club's "B" side.
Soldado joins Savo Milosevic, Pierre Webo and Bernardo Romeo as strikers for the Navarran club. Osasuna had already signed Héctor Font, Javad Nekounam and goalkeeper Jaime Penedo this summer.
Osasuna will be drawn, likely as an unseeded team, in the third qualifying round of the Champions League and could potentially face such sides as Ajax, Arsenal, Liverpool or Benfica. The draw will take place this coming Friday.
