COTTBUS, July 14 (SW) - Bundesliga newcomers Energie Cottbus have completed a move for China midfielder Shao Jiayi.

The 26-year-old Shao has signed a three-year deal and has already begun training with the eastern German club.

The deal between Cottbus and Beijing Guo’an, the Chinese club which controlled Shao’s rights, has been valued at approximately €1 million.

Shao had been on loan to German second division club TSV 1860 Munich since 2003.

"We're delighted that we've now finally completed the transfer," said Cottbus sporting director Steffen Heidrich.

"The transfer means a new start for me," Shao said.

"I think I am still young, and can achieve more in my career."

Cottbus were promoted to the top flight in May.
