VERONA, Jan 18 (SW) - Juventus came away from Chievo with just a point after a 1-1 draw, allowing Inter and AC Milan to gain some ground on the Serie A leaders.

Chievo - Juventus 1-1

This game was settled within the first half hour after Daniele Franceschini opened the scoring to give Chievo a surprise lead in the 21st minute. Patrick Vieira levelled for Juventus in the 31st minute and that's how the game finished, meaning Juve have dropped only 7 points all season.

Treviso - Internazionale 0-1

Treviso made a good account of themselves against Inter, despite still losing out on any points. Julio Cruz scored the only goal of the game in the 22nd minute to allow the Nerazzuri to close the gap on Juventus as they dropped points at Chievo.

AC Milan - Ascoli 1-0

Milan needed a single early goal to see off the challenge of Ascoli as Filipo Inzaghi scored the winner after just 4 minutes.

Sampdoria - Fiorentina 3-1

Fiorentina failed to keep up the pace with the top three as they went down to Sampdoria in a fiery first half at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris. The home side took the lead through Angelo Palombo after 12 minutes, but Luca Toni equalised just 3 minutes later. Max Tonetto and Francesco Flachi scored the defining goals in the 25th and 34th minutes to seal the win for Sampdoria.

Lecce - Livorno 0-0

No goals at the Stadio Via Del Mare ensured both sides took away a valuable point each, as Livorno gain a point on Fiorentina and Lecce gain some ground towards the safety zone at the bottom of the table.

Roma - Reggina 3-1

Roma couldn't have asked for a better start to the game as Francesco Totti put the home side ahead within 4 minutes. He then added a second goal in the 65th minute, but Reggina pulled a goal back on the turn of the 90 minutes, leading to an exciting injury time. While the game could have gone either way, it was Roma who finally cam away with the points after Alessandro Mancini settled the match in the 93rd minute.

Messina - Lazio 1-1

Lazio could count themselves lucky as they had to come back from goal down to rescue a point against Messina. The home side went ahead in the 21st minute through Pereira Rafael and it was left for Christian Manfredini to equalise for Lazio in the 77th to save any blushes.

Palermo - Parma 4-2

The highest scoring match of the night was certainly eventful, as Parma took the lead twice only to end up getting beaten 4-2. Simplicio scored the first goal for the visitors in the 22nd minute but Eugenio Corini equalised 5 minutes later. Paolo Cannavaro then took charge and struck Parma back ahead in the 37th minute to go in at half time 2-1 up. 3 goals in 10 minutes sealed the win for Palermo in the second half when Andrea Barzagli levelled and David Di Michele finished the game off with a brace.

Cagliari - Siena 1-0

Cagliari managed to put daylight between themselves and the relegation spots thanks to a 90th minute strike by David Suazo, while Siena are still in mid-table.

Empoli - Udinese 1-1

Two goals in as many minutes decided the outcome of this match. Francesco Tavano scored the opener from the spot in the 53rd minute, but an equaliser in the 55th secured a point each for the sides.
