Italy: AC Milan win, Internazionale held by Siena

MILAN, Jan 8 (SW) - AC Milan only just managed to beat Parma in a seven-goal thriller at San Siro, while Internazionale could not score and were held to a goalless draw at Siena.
AC Milan - Parma 4-3 International Paolo Cannavaro broke the deadlock for Parma in the 24th minute, but an own goal from Giuseppe Cardone levelled the score three minutes later. Alberto Gilardino (29th) and Kaká (36th) then went on to give Milan a secure lead. Marco Marchionni got one back for Parma in the 70th minute, but Andriy Shevchenko restored the gap eleven minutes later. Marchionni netted another in the 85th minute but his side could not score a fourth goal. Siena - Inter Milan 0-0 Internazionale failed to score at Siena and now move down to third place, just one point behind Milan, who are nine points away from Juventus. Sampdoria - Livorno 0-2 Livorno were the stronger side at Sampdoria with Alessandro Lucarelli opening the score after just seven minutes. Samp's Francesco Flachi was red-carded in the 73rd minute and Cristiano Lucarelli added a second goal for the visitors in stoppage time. Chievo Verona - Lecce 3-1 Sergio Pellissier opened the score for Chievo after 20th minute, but his goal was cancelled out by Gennaro Delvecchio in the 29th. But Pellissier got another in the 52nd minute and Andrea Zanchetta locked the match with his goal for 3-1 in injury time. Treviso - AS Roma 0-1 AS Roma visited Treviso and left with a small but sufficient victory. The only goal of the match was scored by Alberto Aquilani in the 34th minute. Lazio Roma - Ascoli 4-1 Lazio conceded a goal from Roberto Guana in the 14th minute but turned things around through Paolo Di Canio and Gaby Mudingayi in the 29th and 34th minutes. Goran Pandev netted a third in the 73rd and a final goal came from Igli Tare in the 81st minute. Cagliari - Udinese 2-1 Roberto Sensini put Udinese in the lead after 23 minutes but scored an own goal to level the score fifteen minutes later. The visitors from Udine could not control themselves as Christian Obodo was sent off in the 77th minute, followed by Giampiero Pinzi four minutes later. Cagliari took advantage, with a winning goal from Antonio Langella in the 86th minute. Empoli - Messina 1-3 Zlatan Muslimovic's 7th-minute goal was cancelled out by Sergio Bernardo Almiron in the 35th. But Muslimovic got another on the hour mark, followed by a goal from Arturo Di Napoli in the 75th minute. Empoli's Francesco Pratali was expulsed in the 58th minute. |
