Scotland: Celtic drop points, Hearts beat Hibs

GLASGOW, Jan 29 (SW) - Celtic wasted a comfortable lead against Dundee United on Saturday, while Hearts defended their second position with an easy win over Hibernian.
Saturday: Celtic - Dundee United 3-3 John Hartson had his 9th-minute goal cancelled out by David Fernandez in the 40th. Celtic then went on to score another two goals through Maciej Zurawski in the 49th minute and Stilian Petrov in the 67th, but the Bhoys failed to hold on to their lead as Lee Miller (82nd) and Fernandez (86th) levelled the score in the final phase. Hearts - Hibernian 4-1 Hearts had a relatively easy win over Hibernian in the Edinburgh derby. Paul Hartley opened the score in the 27th minute, followed by goals from Rudi Skacel in the 41st, another from Hartley (penalty) in the 44th and Calum Elliot in the 50th. Garry O'Connor got one back for Hibs in the 58th minute. Aberdeen - Kilmarnock 2-2 Barry Nicholson put Aberdeen in the lead after 10 minutes, but Steven Naismith converted a penalty to equalize in the 31st. Russell Anderson restored the home side's lead in the 74th minute, but David Lilley eventually set the score to 2-2 in the 85th. Dunfermline - Motherwell 1-1 Dunfermline earned a point against Motherwell, but were hoping for more after Darren Young's opening goal in the 11th minute. Jim Hamilton levelled for the visitors however, in the 52nd minute. Livingston - Falkirk 0-1 Falkirk needed only one goal to win at last-placed Livingston. Stephen O'Donnell scored in the 35th minute, and the hosts failed to use the remaining time to equalize. Sunday: Inverness - Rangers 2-3 Kris Boyd put Rangers in the lead after only six minutes, but Craig Dargo levelled just seven minutes later. Rangers took a more comfortable lead however, with goals from Marvin Andrews in the 27th minute and a second from Boyd (penalty) in the 58th. Inverness got one back through Dennis Wyness in the 72nd minute. |
