MANCHESTER, Dec 3 (SW) – The signing of Henrik Larsson on loan from Helsingborg may mean that Manchester United won’t go for previously linked players Fernando Torres or Darren Bent.

Sir Alex Ferguson said in an interview that the signing of Larsson on a three month loan may help his side win the Premier League and perhaps more.

His term with United will be from 1 January to 12 March.

The maximum number of matches he is likely to play will be thirteen. These will include away trips to London to take on Arsenal and Chelsea as well as the first Championship League knockout stage.

Larsson has never played in England but his successful seven years at Glasgow Celtic saw him score 242 goals in 315 matches.
