ARNHEM, Dec 2 (SW) - Just days after making his deal permanent, Edison Méndez scored the only goal as PSV Eindhoven defeated Vitesse 1-0 to go eight points clear in the Eredivisie.

With nearest rivals AZ and Ajax not in action until Sunday, PSV took control of the match from the outset and Méndez made the breakthrough in the 22nd minute to give Ronald Koeman's side a lead they would not relinquish.

PSV now have a Champions League match against Bordeaux on Tuesday to look forward to.
