MARSEILLE, Aug 27 (SW) - Another fine performance by Marseille saw them go top of Ligue 1 on Sunday, a 2-0 defeat of Le Mans putting them ahead of Lyon on goal difference.
With the match scoreless after 70 minutes, fans were beginning to get a bit restless wanting a result in a match Marseille were supposed to win, but they were relieved to see Habib Bamogo convert a cross by Samir Nasri for the opener.
The lead was at 2-0 nine minutes later as Mamadou Niang converted from the penalty spot after the striker was brought down in the penalty area by Le Mans defender Grégory Cerdan.
Marseille are the only of the 20 teams in Ligue 1 who are yet to concede a goal this season.
