GLASGOW, Aug 26 (SW) - Debutant Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink scored 14 minutes into his first match with Celtic as the Scottish champions came from a goal down to beat Hibernian 2-1 at Parkhead.
The Edinburgh side stunned the home faithful after just eight minutes when Merouane Zemmama laid the ball off to Scott Brown who in turn fired beyond David Marshall for the 1-0 lead.
Celtic then controlled the pace of the match and nearly equalized on a Shunsuke Nakamura free kick, but the ball struck the crossbar.
The second half started brightly for Hibs with Ian Sproule coming close for the visitors, but Maciej Zurawski made it 1-1 in the 62nd minute when he converted a cross from another debutant, Lee Naylor.
Vennegoor, who came on in the 52nd minute, then snatched the winner with a pure pouncer's goal as he tucked home after Aiden McGeady's rifle shot crashed against the post.
