LARISA, Apr 17 (SW) - Olympiakos secured yet another Greek national title on Sunday despite a 2-1 loss away to AEL Larisa thanks to a Panathinaikos loss at Iraklis.
Olympiakos are now six points ahead of second-placed AEK Athens with two matches to play, but they clinch the title because the head-to-head tiebreaker is in favor of Olympiakos.
Larisa went in front after seven minutes when Angelos Digkozis converted from the penalty spot, but Olympiakos equalized through Predrag Djordjevic in the 54th minute.
The home side, though, remained resilient and grabbed the winner just four minutes later through Stathis Aloneftis. That might have been enough to deny Olympiakos the title for awhile, but José Esteban Herrera's 33rd-minute goal for Iraklis doomed Panathanaikos to defeat.
The championship is the 34th in the illustrious history over Olympiakos and their ninth in the last ten seasons and it means yet another season of Champions League football for them in 2006/07.
AEK, meanwhile, leapfrogged Panathinaikos for second place with a 2-0 victory over island side OFI Crete.
