BREMEN, Apr 8 (SW) - Bayern Munich failed to practically secure the German Bundesliga title as the Bavarians were defeated 3-0 by main rivals Werder Bremen.
Werder Bremen - Bayern Munich 3-0 An own goal from Bastian Schweinsteiger put Werder ahead in the 33rd minute, and Bayern never really recovered from that setback. Daniel Jensen added a second goal to decide the match in the 79th minute and Tim Borowski scored a third in the 83rd. The difference between Bayern and Werder is now seven points with five matches left to play. Kaiserslautern - Hertha BSC 0-2 Hertha visited Kaiserslautern and took three points back to Berlin following a 0-2 victory. The goals came from Marko Pantelic in the 14th minute and Gilberto in the 26th. Borussia Dortmund - Bayer Leverkusen 1-2 Bulgarian Dimitar Berbatov put Bayer in the lead after 21 minutes, but had his goal cancelled out six minutes later by Markus Brzenska. The winning goal was for the guests however, and was scored by Paul Freier in the 50th minute. VfB Stuttgart - Nurnberg 1-0 Stuttgart had a narrow win over Nurnberg, and needed until the 80th minute to break the deadlock. The deciding goal came from Danish striker Jon Dahl Tomasson. Nurnberg's Glauber was handed a second yellow card in the 62nd minute. Arminia Bielefeld - Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0 Arminia hosted Eintracht Frankfurt in Bielefeld and a single goal from Heiko Westermann in the 68th minute was enough for three points. Mainz 05 - Hannover 96 0-0 No goals were scored at Mainz versus Hannover, which means that Mainz are still not safe from relegation. The team is placed 14th, only two points ahead of the relegation zone. Cologne - VfL Wolfsburg 3-0 Cologne left the last place with a 3-0 win over Wolfsburg, who are 15th in the Bundesliga. All goals were scored late in the match, as Scherz opened the score in the 77th minute, with Helmes adding a second one minute later.
