BUENOS AIRES, Apr 25 (SW) - Despite strong interest from Europe’s richest clubs, Argentine wunderkind Carlos Tevez will not be leaving Corinthians, the Brazilian champions, in the summer.
"No one has the money to buy Carlitos. No one has the price. He is the best player in the world," said Kia Joorachian, president of Corinthians' financial partner Media Sports Investment (MSI).
The Brazilian club and MSI paid a Brazilian record US$19.5 million (€15.8 million) to transfer Tevez from Argentina's Boca Juniors in 2004.
The 22-year-old Argentine led Boca to the 2003 Copa Libertadores (South America’s Champions League) title, Argentina to the 2004 Olympic gold medal and Corinthians to the 2004 Brazilian championship.
Corinthians meet Argentine giant River Plate in the first leg of the second round of the Copa Libertadores on Wednesday in Buenos Aires.
