MANCHESTER, Apr 24 (SW) – According to English and Spanish news reports Manchester United are looking to bolster their squad for next season by strenghtening their midfield with Argentinian duo Juan Riquelme of Villareal and Deportivo La Coruna hard-man Aldo Duscher.

It’s been a long time since the glory days of Beckham and Keane running around the park for Manchester United’s midfield and Sir Alex Ferguson is desperate to re-form his team’s midfield in an attempt to snatch Premiership victory next season. His search for holding and attacking midfielders became an epic saga at least in terms of who might sign for the Reds.

Quality players like Arjen Robben, Ronaldinho, Michael Ballack or Michael Essien were all on the list of ManU, but finally none of them were attracted to the club. This was mainly down to the financial competition from Chelsea, but also Ferguson’s hesitation after seeing his most expensive buy, Juan Sebastian Verón falter badly, has played its part.

The latest Argentinian superstar to be in talks with Manchester is reported to be Juan Riquelme from Villareal. The little midfield wizard has set La Liga and the Champions League alight in recent seasons and is highly coveted by top clubs around Europe. United are reportedly offering 12 million Euros to capture him and it seems that Riquelme is also keen to join them: “I watch Manchester United a lot on TV. United is a team full of stars, Rooney and Ronaldo particularly having a bright future ahead of them, and Old Trafford is a stadium with great history.”

Ferguson’s other pick, Riquelme's fellow Argentinian international Aldo Duscher has been long rumoured to sign for ManU, but finally it seems Ferguson is determined to put an end to the question marks. Duscher himself declared that La Coruna would be willing to let him go for 10 million Euros. Ferguson should see this transfer as a bargain buy as ManU’s main transfer target up till now, Mamadou Diarra of Lyon will cost at least 28 million Euros according to Lyon president, Jean Michel Aulas.
