BILBAO, Apr 23 (SW) - Valencia consolidated their second-place spot in La Liga on Sunday with a win away to Athletic Bilbao while Real Madrid and Osasuna kept pace.

Sevilla - Barcelona P-P

A heavy thunderstorm at the Estádio Sánchez Pizjuán forced the Sevilla-Barcelona match to be postponed until a later date.

Athletic Bilbao - Valencia 0-3

It was a late David Villa show that rocked San Mamés on Sunday as he scored three times in the final ten minutes to give Valencia a win.

The match got into the last ten minutes scoreless before Villa fired them in front with just nine minutes to play. He then went on a rampage, scoring in the 84th minute and then again in the 86th minute to turn a close match into a blowout.

Real Madrid - Málaga 2-1

It also took a late goal for Real Madrid to avoid dropping points at home against bottom side Málaga.

The south coast club took a shock lead when César Bovio fired home in the 22nd minute, but a Zinedine Zidane penalty on 67 minutes pulled the home side level.

It looked as if Málaga had stolen a point from their superior competition, but Sergio Ramos struck with a minute to play to snatch victory, keeping Madrid third and two points back of Valencia.

Mallorca - Osasuna 0-1

The late goal theme was also on display at Son Moix in the islands on Sunday as Osasuna got an injury-time winner to defeat Mallorca.

Osasuna, looking to reclaim a five-point gap between they and fifth-placed Celta, needed a goal at the death from Ludovic Delporte to avoid dropping points against the islanders who are just one point above the relegation zone.

Cádiz - Deportivo La Coruña 1-1

Deportivo's hopes at grabbing a spot in Europe took a bit of a hit on Sunday as they were held by Cádiz after finishing with nine players.

Iago gave the Galicians a 1-0 lead on eight minutes and they held that advantage until the 70th minute when Julián de Guzmán picked up his second yellow card of the match.

Lucas Lobos equalized for the home side with seven minutes to play, and Depor had Manuel Pablo dismissed shortly after in a game that featured a total of 12 bookings.

Racing Santander - Getafe 1-3

Racing still sit a point above the relegation zone, but were soundly beaten at home by Getafe, prompting the resignation of coach Manuel Preciado after the game.

Riki gave Getafe the lead after 34 minutes, only to see Antonito equalize three minutes later for the home side, giving the fans at El Sardinero something to cheer.

There was nothing more to cheer, though, as Riki retook the lead for the visitors just after the hour mark and Mario Andrés Pernia got a third with 15 minutes to play.

Espanyol - Real Betis 2-0

Copa del Rey winners Espanyol defeated 10-man Real Betis on Sunday to move four points clear of the bottom three.

Daniel Jarque's goal in the 22nd minute lifted the home side to the lead and it could have been 2-0 had Raúl Tamudo not had a penalty saved by Pedro Contreras.

Contreras, though, was sent off in the 57th minute for bringing down Tamudo in the area and Tamudo nearly blew it again. His penalty effort was saved by Toni Doblas, but he was able to put in the rebound.
