Germany: Hamburg lose to Bayer, Dortmund beat Nurnberg

HAMBURG, Apr 22 (SW) - Hamburger SV failed to take points against Bayer Leverkusen and slowly lose touch with Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich.

Hamburger SV - Bayer Leverkusen 0-2

Hamburg suffered a painful loss against Bayer Leverkusen. Eight minutes had been played when Simon Rolfes opened the score for the guests, and Paul Freier added a second goal in the 77th minute.

Borussia M'gladbach - Hertha BSC 2-2

An own goal from Sofian Chahed gave Mönchengladbach the lead in the tenth minute, but Yildiray Basturk levelled six minutes later.

In the 82nd minute, Thomas Broich restored the home side's lead but Niko Kovac equalized in the 87th minute to rescue a point for Hertha.

Borussia Dortmund - Nurnberg 2-1

Borussia Dortmund moved into seventh place following a victory over Nurnberg. Florian Kringe's 18th-minute goal was cancelled out by Marek Nilk in the 29th, but Kringe got a second in the 77th minute to give his side three valuable points.

VfB Stuttgart - Eintracht Frankfurt 0-2

Stuttgart hosted Eintracht Frankfurt and suffered a 0-2 defeat. Alexander Meier broke the deadlock in the 59th minute and Ioannis Amanatidis added another two minutes later.

Arminia Bielefeld - VfL Wolfsburg 0-1

Wolfsburg needed only one goal to win in Bielefeld, with Miroslav Karhan converting a penalty kick just before the half time whistle.

Kaiserslautern - Hannover 96 1-0

The match between Kaiserslautern and Hannover was decided by one goal as well. Daniel Halfar got the decider for the hosts in the 39th minute.

Cologne - Duisburg 3-1

17th-placed Cologne faced last-placed Duisburg and achieved a valuable 3-1 victory. Albert Streit, Markus Feulner and Lukas Podolski netted for the hosts, while Abdelaziz Ahanfouf got the only goal for Duisburg.
