France: PSG held by Le Mans, Bordeaux beat Ajaccio

PARIS, Sep 24 (SW) - Paris Saint-Germain and Le Mans held each other to a scoreless draw on Saturday, while Bordeaux defeated Ajaccio to climb to the third place in the French Ligue 1.

Paris Saint-Germain - Le Mans 0-0

Paris Saint-Germain, who closed in on leaders Lyon earlier this week, were unable to score at Le Mans. The hosts meanwhile, drop several positions due to this goalless draw.

Bordeaux - Ajaccio 1-0

Only one goal was needed for Bordeaux to take three points against the Corsicans of Ajaccio. Jean-Claude Darcheville broke the deadlock on the half hour mark, with what turned out to be the decisive goal.

Auxerre - Sochaux 3-0

Auxerre had an easy win over Sochaux, with Pegguy Luyindula opening the score after 20 minutes, followed by goals from Thomas Khalenberg in the 42nd and Benoit Cheyrou in the 52nd.

Lille - Saint-Etienne 2-0

Lille needed 26 minutes, to take the lead against Saint-Etienne with a goal from Matt Moussilou. A second goal was added by Hicham Aboucherouane in the 65th minute.

Monaco - Nice 0-0

Another scoreless occured at the Mediterranean derby between AS Monaco and Nice. This loss of points is particularly painful for Monaco; the 2004 Champions League finalists are currently 13th in the league.

Marseille - Metz 3-1

Olympique de Marseille got their third win of the season, beating Metz 3-1 with goals from Frederic Dehu, Franck Ribery and Mamadou Niang, after Sebastian Renouard had put Metz in the lead.

Strasbourg - Toulouse 2-4

Just three minutes had been played when Toulouse opened the score through Laurent Batlles, but Karim Hagui equalized after another four minutes. However, Toulouse's lead was restored by Daniel Moreire in the 8th minute.

Hagui scored a second equalizer in the 40th minute, but second-half goals from Nicolas Dieuze and Santos set the final score to 2-4.

Nancy - Troyes 2-1

Sebastien Grax opened the score for Troyes in the 27th minute, but Gaston Curbelo scored twice in the second half to turn things around in Nancy's favour.
