MUNICH, Sep 17 (SW) - A solitary strike by Martin Demichelis lifted Bayern Munich to another victory on Saturday, 1-0 over Hannover at the Allianz Arena, breaking the Bundesliga record for consecutive wins with their 14th in a row.
Bayern Munich - Hannover 1-0 Bayern found themselves on top early Argentinian Demichelis found himself alone at the far post to redirect a free kick by Willy Sagnol just inside 10 minutes to put Felix Magath's side in front. Mainz - Stuttgart 1-2 It took Stuttgart five games, but Giovanni Trapattoni's men finally recorded their first Bundesliga win of the season as they defeated Mainz, who remain pointless in the 2005/06 campaign. A goal in the 76th minute by Jon Dahl Tomasson put the visitors in front, but Nikolce Noveski leveled for Mainz less than a minute later. With the match headed for a draw, Heiko Gerber stole the points for Stuttgart with a goal three minutes from time. Werder Bremen - Borussia Dortmund 3-2 Werder Bremen emerged victorious in what was a back-and-forth game at the Weserstadion against Dortmund. Ebi Smolarek put the visitors in front just eight minutes into the action, but Miroslav Klose, who was suspended for Bremen's loss to Barcelona in the midweek, pulled the home side level in the 37th minute. Ivan Klasnic scored in the 54th minute to put Thomas Schaaf's side in front, but Smolarek got his second goal in the 69th minute to pull the match level again. However, Johan Micoud got the winner for Bremen with 12 minutes to play, leaving Dortmund reeling. Hamburg - Eintracht Frankfurt 1-1 Late goals were the story as Hamburg remained unbeaten, but were held to a draw at the AOL Arena buy promoted Eintracht Frankfurt. Daniel van Buyten put Hamburg in front with just five minutes to play, but Korean international Du-Ri Cha scored in the dying moments of the game to snatch a point away from home. Köln - Borussia Mönchengladbach 2-1 Köln got their third win of the season as they got two goals in the first half-hour to defeat Gladbach on Saturday. Young German star Lukas Podolski put Köln in front on 12 minutes before Bjorn Schlicke doubled the advantage in the 30th minute. Oliver Neuville's 81st-minute goal was consolation for Gladbach. Wolfsburg - Nürnberg 1-1 Nürnberg remained in the relegation zone despite getting a late goal to steal a point on the road at Wolfsburg. Diego Klimowicz's goal in the 15th looked set to be the winner, but Markus Schroth scored for the visitors with two minutes to play to secure a point, just their second point of the season. Arminia Bielefeld - Kaiserslautern 0-0 Scoreless draws seem rare these days in German football, but Bundesliga newboys Bielefeld held Kaiserslautern to a stalemate on Saturday. Kaiserslautern, who have been on both sides of some of the highest-scoring games so far this season, will be surprised to have played a 0-0 draw while the point lifts Bielefeld away from the bottom three a bit. Remaining fixtures Sunday Duisburg - Bayer Leverkusen Schalke - Hertha Berlin |
