STRASBOURG, Nov 9 (SW) – Racing club de Strasbourg chairman Egon Gindorf has confirmed manager Jacky Duguépéroux would remain at the helm of the club, despite the Ligue 1 outfit’s drastic domestic campaign start.
Currently top of their UEFA Cup Group table with two wins in two games, Strasbourg could have however wished for a better domestic campaign start, the Alsatians having only collected 6 points in 14 rounds, and most importantly failed to clinch one single win.
Club chairman Egon Gindorf had admitted a review of the current situation was necessary, and French media quickly tipped Duguépéroux to make his ‘La Meineau’ exit. But Gindorf confirmed last night the French tactician was to remain in charge of the first-team coaching, and would continue to work with heavy backing from the board.
“Jacky will continue to work here, as he has told us he had enough energy and resources to help the team bounce back. The whole board members have shown great solidarity. I am confident we can overcome the difficulties we are currently experiencing,” said Egon Gindorf.
