AMSTERDAM, Dec 27 (SW) - Ajax earned three valuable points with a 3-2 win over FC Groningen at the Amsterdam Arena. RKC Waalwijk and SC Heerenveen held each other to a 2-2 draw.

Ajax - FC Groningen 3-0

Ajax only needed seven minutes to open the score through Marcus Rosenberg, and two goals from Greek striker Angelos Charisteas, in the 18th and 67th minutes, seemed to be the final blow for Groningen.

The visitors did impress in the final phase, with Glen Salmon and Yevgeni Levchenko scoring in the 80th and 89th minutes, but the home side managed to hold on to their lead.

RKC - Heerenveen 2-2

RKC Waalwijk took a secure lead with goals from Gianni Zuiverloon and Maarten Martens in the 7th and 43rd minutes. However, SC Heerenveen refused to give up and new Ajax signing Klaas Jan Huntelaar showed his value with goals in the 48th and 60th minute, to level the score at 2-2.

Vitesse - NAC Breda 2-1

Sander van Gessel put NAC in the lead when 52 minutes had been played, but the hosts equalized through Matthew Amoah in the 69th. The same player also scored the winning goal two minutes later.

Roda JC - ADO Den Haag 3-1

It took Roda until the 76th minute to break the deadlock through Ivan Vicelich, and a second was added by Andreas Oper six minutes later. Finnish player Jonas Kolkka got one back for ADO in the 86th minute, but Boldiszar Bodor decided the match in stoppage time, 3-1.

Alberto Saavedra was sent off for ADO in the 38th minute, and Roda JC's Laszlo Bodnar was red-carded in the 84th.
