MADRID, Dec 18 (SW) - Real Madrid and Osasuna held each other to a draw at Santiago Bernabeu stadium and allow FC Barcelona to take the sole lead in the Spanish Primera Division.
Real Madrid - Osasuna 1-1 Osasuna broke the deadlock with a goal from Savo Milosevic in the 76th minute, and Madrid levelled eight minutes later through Roberto Soldado. That Osasuna managed to take a point is somewhat surprising, as they spent a large part of the match with ten players following Punal's red card in the 16th minute. Another ten players were yellow-carded: Six for Madrid and four for Osasuna. Villarreal - Getafe 2-1 Getafe took the lead through Riki in the 20th minute, but Villarreal turned things around with goals from Juan Roman Riquelme in the 45th minute and Diego Forlan in the 58th. Alaves - Valencia 0-1 Valencia only needed one goal, from Raul Albiol in the 7th minute, to earn three points at Alaves. Real Madrid, Villarreal, Deportivo and Valencia now share the third position with 29 points each. Sevilla - Real Sociedad 3-2 Real Sociedad took a secure lead with goals from Mikel Labaka in the 25th minute and Gaizka Garitano in the 56th, but Sevilla would eventually walk away with three points. The score was levelled through Kepa in the 76th minute and Frederic Kanoute in the 81st, and Kepa added a winning goal in the 88th minute. Mallorca - Atletico de Madrid 2-2 Less than a minutes had been played when Atletico took the lead with a goal from Maxi Rodriguez, and the gap was doubled by Gonzalo Colsa in the 13th. Mallorca came back however, with goals from Mark Iuliano in the 20th and 84th minutes. Espanyol - Zaragoza 2-2 Raul Tamudo opened the score for Espanyol in the 49th minute but David Generelo and Diego Milito turned things around in the 51st and 64th minutes respectively. Raul Tamudo scored another goal in the 82nd minute to set the final score to 2-2. Racing Santander - Malaga 1-1 Arguably the most memorable match of the day was the clash between Racing Santander and Malaga, where Vitolo, Pablo Pinillos and David Aganzo were red-carded for Racing, while Anderson Silva and Garcia Gerardo were expulsed for Malaga. The opening goal came from Malaga's Cesar Navas in the 34th minute, and Francisco Javier Casquero equalized for the hosts in the 45th. |
